 Tented
Camp
Entering the cream and ivory canvas tent, you will be delighted
by the sight of the room's grand centrepiece - a colourfully adorned
bed dramatically offset by a lavish wooden headboard, styled to
resemble a regal crown. Vast and expansive, these beds are made
of Tanzanian cypress.
Intimate and distinctive, Grumeti has just ten spacious tents with
en suite bathrooms and showers open to the sun and stars. Each flamboyant
tent perches on a raised platform. At night you will lie under the
cool shade of African thatch grass, stirred by ceiling fans.
 Interiors
The high-roofed tents are lined with hand-sculpted African finishes,
hand-blown Kenyan glassware and the unexpected colours of bright
lime, scarlet, bronze, orange and crimson. Ensconced in accommodation
fit for royalty, you can gaze out over the riverbanks and hippo
pools. The décor of the shared living spaces is funky, with
unusual beaded antique artefacts.
Askaris (security guards) accompany you to and from your tent at
night.
Living Spaces
The main living areas, including the pool, overlook the water lettuce-edged
river. Wallow the lazy hours away in our tempting plunge pool, relax
in our lounge and domed bar or wander through the curio shop. The
spacious decks are perfect for sundowners overlooking the river.
Solar panels have replaced electric power to eliminate noise and
pollution.
 As twilight
nears, watch the mystery of the day reinvent itself. Buildings come
to life and shadows leap into wondrous shapes. Full of promise and
discovery, Grumeti is ideal for honeymooners or for celebrating
a special occasion.
Cuisine
At night, around a starlit banquet, you can regale one another
with stories of the day's game sightings. Savour gourmet meals in
our open-air boma (enclosed reeded area) or nearby open-fronted
dining area. Fusions of sand and stone sparkle in the flickering
boma firelight, merging with the shape and moods of the land. We
offer delicious Pan-African cuisine - all meals at Grumeti are prepared
on traditional "jikos" (fires) and stone ovens. Private
dinners may be arranged for special occasions.
